Thank you!
Thank you for sharing your child with us over these last few weeks! We've had a great time working with them and getting to know them. It was wonderful to meet everyone at open house.
We wanted to share a couple things to help your child keep exploring this summer:
We hope you have a terrific summer!

We wanted to share a couple things to help your child keep exploring this summer:
- To make more crystals, make a solution of • 6 Tablespoons salt • 6 Tablespoons bluing agent (found near bleach at store) • 1 Tablespoon ammonia • 4 Tablespoons hot water. Try using food coloring to make different colors.
- Jonathan Bird has great, short videos that are perfect for kids. Click here to see a list.
We hope you have a terrific summer!

Oceans - Week Three!
This week, students have been working hard on their projects for their animal research. They've also been learning about areas within the ocean, such as kelp forests and coral reefs. Students are exploring different animal adaptations and how they help animals survive.
Open house is Thursday night from 5-7pm. We hope to see all of you then. Strike it Rich! will be offering food for purchase at very reasonable prices (less than $3). Performance classes (Shakespeare's Kids and Sing It, Act It, Shake It) will also have shows Thursday evening.

Field trip Photos!
We had a great time on our field trip today! In addition to seeing Sea Life Aquarium, the students got to take a class where they learned about food chains and webs, saw different shark teeth and learned how the teeth can tell us what they eat, and learned about shark fin soup and why it's illegal in the United States.
Bathymetry and Ocean Depth Hunting Simulations
Week Two of Oceans
So far this week, students have continued mapping activities. We reviewed what we learned about bathymetry (measurement and study of the ocean floor). We began studying the ocean zones. Some groups got a chance to try underwater goggles. (Don't worry - everyone else will get a chance to try them tomorrow!)
Don't forget about the field trip on Thursday. Students who have Project SEEK T-shirts should wear them on Thursday.

Exploration: Ocean Families!! We have had a very productive first full week of Project SEEK! Ms. Schmidt's class has been working very hard on "Ocean Animal Research." Each student is researching an animal of their choice using books, magazines, and the internet to find facts. The students will complete reports the last week of Project SEEK and share them at the Open House on Thursday, June 29th from 5:00-7:00 in the evening. We hope to see all of you then!
