June 15, 2017
To build community in our classroom we played some "get to know you" games! It's so hard to learn 20 new names!
We introduced the four habitats we are going to learn about over the next 12 days: arctic, rain forest, desert, and ocean. We played a game where the students had to place the animal in the correct habitat.
June 16, 2017
Today we studied oceans! We learned about the different layers/zones in the water table, and the interesting animals that live there. We made our own water zones!
Each group made their own water zones! We had so much fun getting a little messy!
Next, students painted water zones! After they dried, we had fun thinking of, and drawing sea creatures to add to our paintings!

Today we learned about coral reefs, what lives there and what environment they need to grow coral!
We then created our own coral using pool noodles! We were so creative thinking of ways to cut and color our pool noodle coral!

We then learned about the layers of the Rain-forest, and what animals live there. We finished up our day by creating murals of the Rain-forest!

What a fun and exciting day learning about food chains!
We used Ipads to research different animals and what they eat, in order to make our own food chains!

Thursday June 22 FIELD TRIP DAY
Como Zoo was so much fun even though we got a little wet! The favorite was the sloth named Chloe!
Friday June 23
We learned about the arctic circle today and how some animals need LOTS of fat to stay warm!
We had lots of fun with out science experiment to see what it's like to be a polar animal!
We all got a chance to see how a polar animal survives in the cold arctic winters!
We started a special project today after snack

We were so ecstatic this morning because our clay animals finally dried and we could paint them!
We spent our afternoon using all sorts of materials to decorate our animals habitats!

The "Beyond the Selfie" class set up a photo booth for us to check out!
We also went to the performance that "SIng it, Act it, Shake it" put on! It was about different biomes which was perfect for our class!
